Donations continue to flow in to support the injured Bensenville police officer Steven Kotlewski, who is still in the intensive care unit after being shot on Saturday.

As of Tuesday afternoon, more than $115,000 had been raised through the GoFundMe page. The largest donation was $10,000 and came from Victory Auto Wreckers, a Bensonville-based company located on Green Street, not far from the Bensonville Police Station.

This page was created by Kotlewski’s sister-in-law, Ellie Murphy. In the latest update, she wrote that Kotlewski remained calm and intubated. On Monday, he underwent surgery on his left arm and right knee, and a few days later he will have another repair operation on his left knee.

She also wrote that he will use the back brace for two months.

Murphy wrote: "On behalf of Cristal (Kotlevsky's wife) and our family, we would like to express our gratitude to our friends, family and community for their support during this tragedy." "We are very much Thank you for the number of donations received through the GoFundMe page set up for Steven.

"We are overwhelmed by hundreds of messages from friends, family, strangers, organizations, churches, mother groups, police departments, fire departments, charities, schools, retired law enforcement officers, restaurants, shops, etc. As Steven Family members donated."

Kotlewski was shot nine times when he received a call from an apartment in the 100 block of South York Road at around 1 am on Saturday. Eight 9mm bullets shot into his leg, back and arms. The ninth bullet was stuck in his protective vest.

Kotlewski also fell from the stairwell and started crawling until his colleague found him, hit a tourniquet on his leg, and took him to the fire station.

Both legs were fractured, the femoral artery was severed, and the liver, colon, diaphragm, and kidney were damaged. He needed a transfusion of 14 pints of blood and underwent an 8-hour operation late Saturday morning.

Kiante J. Tyler, 21, was charged with attempted murder and is currently detained in DuPage County Jail without bail. Taylor's mother called the police and told Taylor to leave the apartment. According to the petition that the prosecutor refused bail, she told investigators that Taylor had acted "strangely" the day before.

Taylor's mother and other relatives said they thought he was mentally ill.

Kotlewski worked for the Bensonville Police Department for 12 years.
