Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray of Maharashtra successfully underwent cervical spine surgery at HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai on Friday.
An official statement from the Office of the Chief Minister stated that CM Uddhav Thackeray was in stable condition after the operation
The statement said: "The chief minister was in a stable condition during the operation. He has now been transferred to his hospital ward after the operation. It is reported that his condition is stable."
Cardiologist Dr. Ajit Desai and Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj of HR Reliance Hospital performed the operation.
Earlier, Uddhav Thackeray showed up at a virtual meeting with a neck brace, sparking speculation about his health.
On Wednesday, CM Uddhav Thackeray said he was taken to the hospital for treatment of neck pain on the advice of a doctor.
"Neck pain was ignored during this period. Obviously it paid a price. For proper treatment, the doctor recommended hospitalization for two to three days. So I was hospitalized today," he said.
