Court documents show that a woman has filed a negligence lawsuit against Kings Island and its parent company, Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. in Sandusky, Ohio, alleging that a ride at the park caused her to have a stroke.

The document states that in October 2019, Darian Young of Muncie, Indiana, was “heavyly hit and thrown around on the 3,000-foot-long wooden roller coaster Adventure Express, causing severe and debilitating damage. harm".

As a result, according to a complaint originally filed in the Warren County General Court of Appeals in September but moved to the United States, Yang, in his early 20s, suffered a cervical dissection, which resulted in a stroke and permanent disability. Southern District of Ohio.

Part of the lawsuit alleges that Cedar Fair failed to keep cycling in a safe state and warned guests that "cycling is violent and rough in nature, and cycling may cause debilitating injuries."

Yang’s attorney, Colleen Hegge, said that the lawsuit is now being filed because Ohio’s statute of limitations requires a personal injury claim to be filed within two years of the incident.

According to Warren County court records, He

Hegge said that although the scale and scope of the amusement park industry has grown greatly since the early days of the county fair, this does not mean that the amusement facilities are safer. "People don't know how badly you will be injured."

According to the lawsuit, Yang suffered medical and drug expenses due to his injuries, and lost his income and earning ability.

Attorneys for Cedar Fair have not yet responded to The Enquirer's request for comment. If they respond, the inquirer will update the story.

The Adventure Express is "a high-speed wooden and steel roller coaster that combines sloping turns and tunnels," the Kings Island website reads. "Guests with neck brace, neck brace, broken collarbone, full arm cast, support arm cast, or full leg cast are not allowed to ride."

The documents show that Yang requested a verdict on compensatory and punitive damages of more than US$25,000. The case will be referred to District Judge Timothy S. Black (Timothy S. Black) for trial.
