Makayla Noble is a cheerleader at a Texas high school. She was paralyzed by an accident when she went home to practice. She was told that she could start to get rid of the neck brace she had to wear in the past few weeks.

On Thursday, the Noble family released the latest news about the condition of the 17-year-old Prosper resident on the Facebook group "Makayla's Fight".

"Mak had a busy but beautiful day! There are not many smiles today, but we know we will have those days," the family said.

Noble suffered a severe spinal cord injury on September 20, 2021, which caused her to become paralyzed from the chest and unable to move her hands.

When the accident happened, Noble was practicing tumbling, a gymnastic exercise involving acrobatics.

Before moving to a rehabilitation facility, she stayed in the hospital for more than three weeks, but she was finally allowed to go home on Monday.

Despite this, her care continued, and according to her family, she had an appointment with her surgeon on Thursday.

"Dr. McCullough said everything looks good and Mak can start to get rid of the neck brace. We thank him and his team!"

Although Noble had a pleasant day on Thursday, family members said she still felt nerve pain in her hands.

After the accident, the doctor told Noble that she could no longer walk. But after several weeks of rehabilitation training, the girl has made good progress. Now she can raise her arms and hold a paintbrush, and she can feel her legs.

Since the injury, the girl has been trying to maintain a positive attitude. Previously, she said in the video that the accident changed her perspective on life.

"I think I love life more," Noble said. "The doctor told me,'I don't know how you survived, you should die.' My wound fell on my neck, on my throat-I might die, I should die. Facts I haven’t done it yet. I have made great progress and have really changed my life."

"I am grateful that I am here, still walking on this earth, living a life, and learning new things."

On Wednesday, the family released another update, stating that Noble had another good day and enjoyed the time he was discharged from the hospital.

"Mai got up earlier today and was very excited to go out and walk for a few hours! That trip included Chick-fil-A and Target, two favorites! She likes to go out and see everything, but the trip really exhausted her , She went home and lay in bed to rest!"
