Souza previously issued a statement to Fox News.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the shooting and said it was “premature” to comment on potential criminal charges at a press conference on Wednesday.

Baldwin spoke publicly for the first time during the investigation on Saturday. "As far as the death of a woman is concerned, this is an active investigation. She is my friend," Baldwin said.

He added: "We are a very, very good staff. We shot a movie together, and then this terrible incident happened."

"From time to time there are accidents in movie studios, but nothing like this," he said. "This is a part in a trillion event. This is a part in a trillion event."

Baldwin said he was "very interested" in restricting the use of guns on set after the fatal incident.
