Rust film director Joel Souza was accidentally shot and killed by Alec Baldwin while filming in Santa Fe, New Mexico last Friday, and was spotted for the first time since he was discharged from the hospital last Friday.

Souza was injured but survived the incident that took the life of photographer Halyna Hutchins.

The injured director was found outside his home in Palo Alto, California, looking gloomy. His friends revealed that Souza is still grieving the loss of colleagues and is "very depressed."

"Joel falls apart," his friend said. "He was standing behind Halyna. When Alex shot them directly, they all looked at the camera monitor. He was completely destroyed."

Baldwin pulled the trigger of the prop gun handed to him by the assistant director for the role in his upcoming movie "Rust".

The actor did not know that the gun contained "live ammunition."

As a result, Suza and Hutchins filmed on the set. Police were immediately called to the scene of Bonanza Creek Ranch.

Hutchins was taken to the hospital by helicopter, where she was "declared dead by medical staff." At the same time, Souza was taken to another hospital due to injuries. His representative announced that he was released the next day.

After the tragedy, the production of the film stopped immediately, and the authorities launched an investigation into the accidental shooting. The police subsequently issued a search warrant on the ranch where the film was filmed and declared that the case "keep open and active."

Baldwin issued a statement on Twitter that he was "heartbroken" for Hutchins's family and expressed support to her husband and son. He also claimed that he "is fully cooperating with the police investigation to resolve how this tragedy happened."

Soon after, Souza also broke his silence on the incident and said: "I feel sorry for the loss of my friend and colleague Halyna. She is kind, energetic, and talented, and she does her best to always push me to become better. It is the most difficult thing here. At the moment, my heart is with her family."

In yesterday's confrontation with the paparazzi, Baldwin, who claimed that Halina was his "friend", said that he believed that the use of guns should be "restricted" in the movie set and insisted that "some new measures must be taken." The actor also explained that he was not allowed to comment on the investigation and was "eagerly waiting" to hear any latest news from the Sheriff's Department on the case.
